Christmas at the Galt House Hotel Brings Back an Old Family Tradition for Many
It’s a throwback to the past that has grabbed the attention of people young and old. Christmas at the Galt House Hotel features nearly three dozen restored figures from the old Stewart’s Department Store holiday windows. The characters were found in a city garage after decades of being cast aside. Christmas at the Galt House Hotel brought in world-renowned animator, Mr. Lou Nasti, was brought in to give new life to these figures. He actually made some of the characters back in the 1960’s when these windows were in their heyday. Mr. Nasti found the woman who made some of the characters’ original clothing to update and refresh the clothes.
The characters are now displayed in storefronts in the Christmas Village at Christmas at the Galt House Hotel. Guests have remarked that it brings them back to a time when they bundled up with their families and went downtown to see the department store holiday windows. Others have said the displays are even better than those of the past because they’re indoors and you don’t have to be out in the cold to enjoy them.
