Galt House Hotel Employee Saves Child’s Life

He’s a 17-year-old from Jeffersonville, and he’s up for a big award.  That’s because this past summer, Nick Mudd saved a child’s life. The Junior at Jeffersonville High School started as a lifeguard at the Galt House Hotel pool in May of 2012.

In August, his lifeguarding skills were put to the test when a four-year old child who jumped into the pool alone and began to panic.  The child was thrashing and began to sink.  Nick sprang into action, jumping into the pool and pulling the child to safety.  Using CPR, Nick cleared the child’s airways and made the child choke up a chest full of water.

His quick-thinking actions saved the child’s life, and for that, he is nominated for a Rose Award.  The Louisville Convention and Visitors Bureau presents the Rose Award to stars in the hospitality industry who provide unforgettable customer service.  To vote for Nick Mudd, click here.
