Beatlesmania on the Belvedere Memorial Day Weekend

It’ll be a big weekend on the Belvedere when Abbey Road on the River kicks off its Memorial Day Weekend festival.  The event brings more than five dozen bands to perform on eight stages for five days of peace, love and rock and roll.  Hall of Fame band Jefferson Starship is the headlining concert on Saturday, May 26th.

AROTR is North America’s largest and longest running Beatles tribute festival.  This year, AROTR will include a screening of Yellow Submarine.  The film will be shown on Thursday, May 24, at 8:30 PM, for free.  The 1968 animated film has been digitally restored for DVD and Blu-ray release on June 5th in the U. S. and is in a limited number of theaters across the country this month.
This year, AROTR is hosting a window decorating contest for festival-goers staying in the Galt House Hotel, in RIVUE Tower rooms facing the Belvedere.  Students from Manual High School will decorate the 14th Floor with “ABBEY ROAD ON THE RIVER” across the windows.  Festival-goers can also enjoy free guitar lessons and presentations.

Event hours are Thursday 2 p.m. – 1 a.m.; Friday 2 p.m. – 2 a.m.; Saturday 11 a.m. – 2 a.m.; Sunday 11 a.m. – 2 a.m.; and Monday 11 a.m. – 10 p.m.
