Best Spot to Watch Thunder Over Louisville
This year’s Thunder Over Louisville will break records for the largest Air Show in North America, and the largest annual Pyrotechnics show in North America– so you’ll want to make sure you’ve got prime seating!
We’re gearing up for a party at Galt House Hotel, with Thunder in the Conservatory. Not only will you find a great view inside our unique glass structure, you’ll get a BBQ buffet and private access to Al J’s in the Conservatory bar.
You never quite know what the weather is going to be like for the kickoff to the Kentucky Derby Festival, but come rain, sleet or extreme heat, you’ll be protected indoors. Not to mention, you’ll be able to avoid those Thunder-Pots.
This year’s theme is “A Star-Spangled Blast.” People are encouraged to wear red, white and blue to the April 21st event. Organizers say this year’s event may just set the record for aircraft. There will be a large number of Marine aircraft, commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Marine Corps. About 100 aircraft are expected to take part in the show, including several WWII-era planes, some from private collections. Marine Corps veteran, Kentucky native, and Congressional Medal of Honor recipient Sgt. Dakota Meyer is the Thundernator. As Thundernator, he’ll hit the button to launch the fireworks. Some 700,000 people will flock to the waterfront to see the big event.
Tickets for Thunder in the Conservatory are $125. For more information call: 502-589-5200 ext.4216 or click here.
