Galt House Hotel Hopes to Raise $100,000 for The Permanently Disabled Jockeys Fund with Night of… Party
They can guide a thoroughbred to glory, and put their safety at risk each time they race. That’s why the Permanently Disabled Jockeys Fund was founded six years ago. PDJF provides financial assistance to some five dozen former jockeys who have suffered catastrophic on-track injuries. Many of them were injured in their 20’s and 30’s and face decades of living with a disability. Most of them suffer paralysis or brain injuries.
Since its inception, PDJF has disbursed more than $3 million to permanently disabled jockeys. Galt House Hotel has partnered with PDJF through the Night of… Party. In its first year, the Derby night party raised $60,000 for the charity. This year, Galt House Hotel is raising the stakes, with a goal to donate $100,000. A portion of each party ticket will go to PDJF, along with proceeds raised in a silent auction.
Galt House Hotel honors jockeys daily with Gallop to Glory. Similar to Hollywood’s “Walk of Fame,” all living Kentucky Derby-winning jockeys have been invited to preserve their handprints and signatures. The handprints and signatures are placed at the main entrance of the Galt House Hotel SUITE Tower. So far, 34 jockeys have made their mark on Gallop to Glory, some of them having won multiple Kentucky Derby races.
You can help Galt House Hotel raise money for the Permanently Disabled Jockeys Fund by attending the Night of … One Race, One Winner, One Party on May 5. The night begins at 8 with a pleasing array of passed hors d’ oeuvres and limitless top-shelf libations. Then, you’ll find a gourmet dinner, featuring Kentucky Proud products. Next on the list, dancing to the sounds of a sensational live band that has played the likes of Donald Trump’s New Year’s Eve Party and President Obama’s Inauguration. You won’t want this night to end!
