You Gotta Love March
There’s an energy in the city today… and it’s all about the hopes and dreams of eight teams and their fans. All eight teams playing the Second and Third Rounds of the NCAA Tournament at the KFC Yum! Center have open practices today. It’s a chance for the media and fans to get a look at their players, and the competition. And for folks who weren’t lucky enough to get tickets to get in on some of the action.
Three of the four teams from the Bluegrass that are in the tournament are playing in Louisville, so it’s a great opportunity for fans to see their team up close. And I even spotted some UofL shirts in the crowd, despite the team playing in Oregon. Murray State, Western Kentucky, and Kentucky will play at the KFC Yum! Center tomorrow.
Some fans came on their lunch breaks from downtown office buildings, others have planned their day around their team’s practice. And as the day goes on, there’s more and more UK blue. The Cats don’t practice until 4:25, and I think it’s safe to say they’ll have a big crowd on hand. In fact, as I was walking back to the Galt House Hotel, a truck drove by playing the UK fight song. Cats fans–and fans of all the teams– are hyped up and ready for action.
